Bhubaneswar, May 21: Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik directed to take stern action against the officials found making delay in the execution of rural housing schemes - Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana and Indira Awas Yojana.
Reviewing the programmes yesterday, Patnaik directed the district collectors through video conference to gear up the rural housing schemes and follow the techniques for the successful implementation of the programmes, while expressing satisfaction over the work progress of the Yojanas in Gajapati, Rayagada, and Koraput districts.
He asked the officials to create awareness among the beneficiaries and stressed on to provide proper training to the labourers about the masonry, supply of materials for the house construction.
If the target is not achieved and the programmes fail to be executed in the rural areas, prompt action will be taken against the officials of the concerned department, he said.
He directed the RDCs (Revenue Divisional Commissioners) to take special measures to implement the schemes at earliest. The Panchayati Raj secretary was also asked to visit the districts and review the work progress.
Since the two important Yojanas are the top prirority for the CM, he wants action at double speed. Under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana, all the kuccha ghar will be converted to Pucca houses.
