Jayalalithaa set to return as Tamil Nadu CM

Chennai, May 22: AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa is all set to return as the Tamil Nadu chief minister following she was acquitted in a disproportionate assets case. Today, she was elected as the legislative party leader.

Jayalalithaa will meet the governor K Rosiah shortly and will claim to form the government.

Meanwhile, chief minister O Panneerselvam resigned from his post to see the party chief as the CM of the state once again.

With the comeback as the CM for the fifth time, Jayalalithaa will contest the assembly poll after she was disqualified following her sentence.

She had stepped down as the CM after she was convicted by a trial court in Karnataka in the disproportionate assets case last September. However, the Karnataka high court on May 11 had acquitted her from all the charges in the corruption case.
