Modi must say NO to LG powers over Appointment of Officers: Sisodia

New Delhi, May 22: In yet another attack on BJP-led Centre, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia today said it has been reported to him that some bureaucrats are planning to send a petition to the Home Ministry requesting the MHA to give the powers of transfer and postings of civil servants to Lieutenant Governor.

He said if the MHA accepts the proposal it will become clear that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh have bowed down to corruption.

In a series of tweets in Hindi Sisodia said, the constitution has given all powers to the Delhi government except for police and law and order. He said, the LG only has the powers to appoint Chief Secretary, Commissioner of Police, Home Secretary and Land Secretary and that too with the consent of the Chief Minister.

Sisodia said some "corrupt" officers are trying to make changes to the constitution.

Before this Sisodia had hit out at media over reports that 45 bureaucrats had applied for leave to get out of the slugfest between the LG and Kejriwal government over the appointment of bureaucrats. He had also said that the transfer-posting industry had flourished during erstwhile Congress government's regime but AAP has put a stop to it.
