Daru of Lord Jagannath reaches Temple in Puri

Puri, May 22: The sagadi carrying the daru of Lord Jagannath from Kharipadia at Raghunath in Jagatsinghpur district reached Shree Mandir today. The daru was taken to Koili Baikuntha for carving the idol and other rituals.

Thousands of devotees gathered outside the temple to touch the sagadi and see the daru warpped with patta clothes. The atmosphere was echoed with beating of mridanggs, chants of Jai Jagannath. The scene was noteworthy.

The sagadi entered the temple through Singhadwar and later it was taken to the Uttar Dwar to the Koili Baikuntha.
