New Delhi, May 27: The war of words between two ministers in the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi echoed over the ban on cow slaughter and eating beef.
Reacting to Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who is the minister of state for minority affairs, over banning on beef, Kiren Rijiju, the minister of state for home affairs, said that his colleague's remarks "unacceptable".
Naqvi had said that those who are dying to eat beef should go to Pakistan or Arab nations where it is available. Rijiju said he cannot be stopped by anyone from eating beef.
Rijiju belongs to Arunachal Pradesh, where beef is the food habit of people as large numbers of Christians are living there.
He said that India is a democratic, multi-racial, multi-religious, multi-communal country. Therefore, people should respect each other's practices.
