Leander Paes records 700th Doubles Match win

New Delhi, May 28: Veteran Indian tennis player Leander Paes became the eighth man in ATP World Tour history to record 700 doubles match wins.

Leander Paes, fell short of the milestone twice by an inch, one it happened in Madrid and again in Rome. However, the 41 year old brought his 700th victory in the company of his Canadian partner Daniel Nestor.

The 10th seeds overcame the Aussie duo of James Duckworth and Chris Guccione 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 to kick-start their bid for the Roland Garros title.

Paes termed it as a "special number" and now will go for his 800th match.

"It is a special number. I normally look at these milestones as motivation to keep going, to keep pushing further and further, I will try and get to 800 now", Paes said.

Paes is in his 25th year on the Pro tour and tweeted about coming back to Roland Garros where he has won on three occasions in 1999, 2001 and 2009.

Taking to Twitter, he tweeted, "Bonjour Paris!!! Happy to be back at @rolandgarros for my 25th French Open".
