Gutta fumes after being left out of Tops scheme

New Delhi, May 29: Right after the Union Sports Ministry led by Sarbananda Sonowal announced 39 more athletes in the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPs), Indian doubles shuttler Jwala Gutta was seen fuming over the absence of her and her doubles partner Ashwini Ponnappa's name from the list.

Gutta launched a direct attack on former coach Pullela Gopichand and termed everything as a "scandal".

In a scathing attack, Gutta accused Gopichand of promoting players of his academy and ignoring others like her.

The 2010 CWG champion accused Gopi of "biased selection" for ignoring her name from the list for the reason that she refused to massage his ego.

The incensed shuttler also accused sports ministry for playing into the hands of the former coach and member of the TOPs committee.

"I had refrained from taking any names after the first list was announced. But now I have to really tell the world that there is only person behind our exclusion from the TOPs list and that is PullelaGopichand. Gopi has a personal grudge against me and that's why he doesn't want both of us. This is because I have always refused to massage his ego. My job is to perform for the country and not massage someone's ego".

The shuttler termed everything as a "scandal" on her social networking site Twitter.

JWALA GUTTA'S TWEET-"Hahahah...again not in the list of TOPSCHEME... Maybe its time we hire #OliviaPope#Scandal@P9Ashwini

ASHWINI PONNAPPA'S TWEET-"@Guttajwala We need a fixer to fix things partner! #Scandal"

Gutta has expressed her desire to meet PM Modi and apprise him of the situation.
