CM directs to set up Teachers Recruitment Board

Bhubaneswar, June 17: Odisha government will set up a Teachers Recruitment Board to fill up the vacancies of teachers post in the State.

The directive was issued by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to the School and Mass Education department at a review meeting yesterday at the state secretariat.

Chairing the meeting, Patnaik asked the officials to prepare the work programme and submit a report within a month.

The meeting revealed that the State has met the target to construct schools in all the gram panchayats. The initiatives are being taken to set up model schools in every block. Around 111 will be set up in the first phase and 51 in second phase. The development commissioner has been asked to review the implementation of the model schools.

The government has upgraded 39 UP schools to high schools in 2015-16 and 82 high schools were set up with assistance from Rastriya Madhamik Sikshya Abhiyan.

The meeting revealed that there is a proposal for Mukhya Mantri Puraskar to the best-standard teachers and schools to encourage teachers. The CM also advised the officials to focus on girl education and teachers' training.
