Congress demands PM Statement on Lalit Modi-Sushma Nexus

News

New Delhi, June 17: With the names of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and other BJP stalwarts emerging in the Lalit Modi travel papers controversy, the Congress is demanding a statement from the Prime Minister. Congress is also asking for an SIT probe.

"The Congress has demanded that the whole matter be investigated by a Supreme Court monitored SIT. Whosoever he found guilty, whoever that person be, we are very clear about this that action should be taken against that person and SushmaSwarajji should tender her resignation. The Prime Minister should give a statement on this and even the Rajasthan Chief Minister should give her resignation now", Congress leader Shobha Ojha said.

BJP is facing huge embarrassment as it emerges that two of its well-known faces ostensibly helped former IPL chief Lalit Modi. Documents released by Lalit Modi show that Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje agreed to be a secret witness for his immigration application.

"See Lalit Modiji said that his relations with Sushma Swarajji are very old then that is what we are saying that because of those relations the foreign minister helped Lalit Modi who is an economic offender. Now even Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s name is coming out. It seems that the BJP which was creating uproar over black money is itself saving black money hoarders now. ‘achhe din’ have come for economic offender and the Prime Minister is quiet. He is not saying anything on this whole episode. He is silent on the issue", Ojha said.

Lalit Modi also named Rajiv Shukla of the Congress as someone he was close to. But Shobha Ojha said Shukla has clarified that he has had nothing to do with Lalit Modi for the past three years.

"Whatever Lalit Modi said in his interview about Rajiv Shukla, Rajiv ji gave clarification on this immediately that he has not been in contact with Lalit Modi for past 3 years. Lalit Modi has also not kept any facts or documents regarding his connection with Rajiv Shukla. It seems he took Shukla's name just like that", Ojha said.
