Bhubaneswar: Hope for admission in the proposed Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in the State from this academic year has rekindled after the visiting central team today hinted that it is possible if Centre accepts their proposal.
Shailendra Kumar, director (management), Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), one among the central team told media persons, “All efforts will be made for admission in IIM-Odisha from this academic session if the Centre accepts our proposal.”
“We’ll submit the field report by Thursday and after that it (Centre) will decide,” added Kumar.
He also said admission for the IIM-Odisha would take place for around 78 seats, while it was earlier proposed to have an intake capacity of 140 seats.
The team reached Sambalpur on a two-day visit on Saturday,and inspected the proposed permanent and temporary campuses in Sambalpur.
They have expressed their satisfaction over the sites selection.
The state government has identified land in Rengali, Dhankauda and Neeldungri blocks for permanent campus. It has also selected Government Polytechnic, Rengali, Sambalpur University Institute of Information Technology (SUIIT), Burla, and Silicon Institute of Technology, Sason, for temporary campus.
