Itishree murder case: Court acquits dismissed school SI

Rayagada, June 23: The court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) at Kashipur in Rayagada district on Monday acquitted dismissed school inspector (SI) Netrananda Dandasena for alleged link with Itishree Pradhan.

Itishree Pradhan, a lady teacher of Tikiri Upper Primary School who died on November 1, 2013, four days after being set on fire by an unknown person inside the school hostel room on October 27, for lack of evidence.

Previously, Itishree had lodged a complaint, on June 18, 2013, against Dandasena in Tikiri Police Station for inflicting mental and physical torture. Police later submitted a charge sheet against Dandasena.

However, the court, while hearing the case, acquitted Dandasena for lack of evidence.

Netrananda, who absconded since death of Itishree, was arrested by the Crime Branch following a complaint lodged by former headmaster of Tikiri Upper Primary School, Chandrasekhar Panda.
