IIM to set up in Sambalpur, classes from this year

Bhubaneswar, June 24: Prolonged suspense ended with the union Cabinet today decided to establish the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Sambalpur of Odisha.

Making the announcement after the cabinet meeting this afternoon, Union minister Ravishankar Prasad said classes in the Sambalpur IIM would start from the current academic year of 2015-16.

He also said, a total of 140 students would be admitted to the six new IIMs including that of Sambalpur.

A four-member central team had come to Sambalpur on a two-day visit on June 20 and inspected the site proposed for permanent and temporary campuses in Sambalpur.
