Cuttack, June 27: Odisha DGP Sanjiv Marik today has inaugurated a training programme on cyber crime at the state Crime Branch headquarters in Cuttack.
Crime Branch ADG BK Sharma along with some senior police officials attended the state level one-day special workshop on ‘Cyber Crime Investigation and Forensic Science’.
The workshop is being attended by 60 police officers from 30 districts that would be trained by cyber experts with advanced scientific methods to effectively deal with crime.
The training programme will exclusively deal with cyber crimes, registration of FIRs, and method of collection of digital evidence, forensic imaging and packaging of digital evidence.
The first session of the workshop would deal with the types of cyber crime, punishment under IT Act, FIR registration, digital evidence collection, forensic imaging and packaging of digital evidence.
The second session would deliberate on Facebook related crimes and fraudulent online financial transactions relating to ATM, credit card and lottery.
Apart from this, the Crime Branch ADG BK Sharma said the Odisha police has been submitted a proposal to the state government to set up a cyber division at the state Forensic Laboratory.
