Nine tortured daily labourers return home from Malaysia

Berhampur, June 28: The nine workers of the district, who were allegedly tortured at their workplaces in Malaysia for over a year, returned to their homes.

Chandramani Rout, a resident of Tumbada village in Beguniapada said his employers used to beat him up if he makes a mistake or takes rest during working hours. They give us around Rs 12,000 to Rs 14,000 per month against a promise of a handsome salary.

“Our boss was so cruel as he never allows us to go for treatment if we fall sick due poor quality food served there”, said another worker Santosh Dalai from the district.

The matter has come to light when some labourers working their informed about their ordeal to their parents last month.
