Two minor daughters sold by parents for Rs 20,000

Sambalpur, June 28: In a shocking incident, a married woman and her brother filed a complaint with police in Sambalpur that their parents had sold two minor sisters in Pathria of Madhya Pradesh.

In their complaint, Pushpa Saha and her brother Sanatan Naik stated that their father Manbhula Naik and mother Prabhasini of Mudipada area sold Jyoti Naik and Anjali Naik to a woman for Rs 20,000 on June 1.

Pushpa said she has no information about her siblings since they went missing from June 1.

The woman added she also failed to contact them despite persistent efforts.

She alleged that her father, a daily wage labourer, sold the two girls to meet his alcohol expenses.

When police interrogated the accused parents, Manbhula said he has married off his daughters as they were more than 20 years of age.
