Gunmen kill 14 in northern Kenya attack

Nairobi, July 7: At least 14 people were killed and 11 injured today when gunmen attacked a northern Kenyan village, close to the border with war-torn Somalia, said police.


"The attack occurred at a village near a large livestock market just outside the town, 14 people are dead," a senior police officer said in the town of Mandera.

Top local official, county commissioner Alex Ole Nkoyo, confirmed the attack to Kenya`s Daily Nation newspaper, while Kenya Red Cross said it had taken 11 wounded to hospital.
