Bodies of two Maoists recovered from Odisha forest

Phulbani,July 27: Security personnel recovered the bodies two Maoists from inside Madaguda forest in Tumudibandh area in Odisha's Kandhamal district this morning after heavy exchange of fire yesterday.

Kandhamal SP Kanwar Vishal Singh said apart from the bodies of the two Maoists, security personnel have also seized three guns, live cartridges and several Maoist articles from inside the forest, sources said.

"The joint operation was carried out following a tip-off on the presence of the Maoists inside Madaguda forest", said Amitabh Thakur, IG, Southern Range.

It may be mentioned that the CRPF and the Special Operation Group (SOG) personnel were on a joint combing operation in the forest area under Tumudibandh block yesterday when the Maoists suddenly opened fire at them.

The security personnel retaliated immediately. After an hour-long exchange of fire, the Maoists fled the area.

Prior to this incident, the security personnel had encountered the Maoist attack on Kandhamal-Kalahandi border on Friday.
