Three flights diverted due to heavy rain

Chennai, August 1: Three flights, including two international ones, were today diverted following heavy downpour, airport authorities said today.

Two international flights arriving from Frankfurt and Singapore, respectively, which were supposed to land here this morning, were diverted to Bengaluru and Tiruchirapalli, following heavy rain, officials said.

Another domestic aircraft from Pune to Chennai was also diverted to Bengaluru, they said.

Passengers waiting to board these flights were left stranded as they were diverted at the last minute, officials said.

Alternative arrangements are being made for the passengers, they added.
