Security tightened ,12 platoons force deployed at Sarathi's ashram

Kendrapara,August 6:Tension prevails to continue in the Barimula area close to Sarathi Baba's ashram in the district after the controversy surrounding the pictures purporting immoral conduct of the spiritual leader gathered momentum.

Widespread protests were seen in different parts of the State. Effigies of Sarathi Baba were burnt at many places demanding action against him.

To avoid any untoward situation, 12 platoons of forces have been deployed and security arrangements have been tightened in the ashram area today.

According to sources, hundreds of protestors tried to force enter the ashram of the godman today. Following this, police resorted to mild lathi charge to disperse activists injuring six persons.

Notably, a major controversy has sparked off after photographs of alleged to be of Baba Sarathi taken in a luxury hotel in Hyderabad emerged in electronic and social media on Tuesday. Public outrage has since ensued over the images and reports which also alleged that Sarathi Baba was staying in the hotel with a woman.

While the Baba’s supporters held a media meet over the matter yesterday, members of the All India Democratic Women's Association staged demonstration outside the venue demanding stern action against him.

Similarly, protests erupted at Sarathi Baba’s ashram at Kendrapara and protestors shouted slogans and burnt his effigy.
