New Delhi,August 8:Three people were killed as two houses collapsed due to cloudbursts near Dharampur town,
80 km from Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh,on Saturday morning.
Officials said heavy rain caused the two houses to collapse at Sateraini village early in the morning.
"The bodies of three victims have been retrieved from the debris," said Sarkaghat sub divisional magistrate Vikram Mahajan. Sarkaghat is 20 km from Dharampur town.
4 buses swept away, terminal submerged the Sone rivulet, a tributary of the Beas, turned into a torrent
following the cloudburst.
The swollen Sone swept away four buses at the Dharampur bus stand and left the terminal submerged. No passenger was in the buses when the incident occurred.
Nearly 10 people were stranded on the roof of the bus terminal, located on the left bank of the Sone, and efforts were on to evacuate them.
District officials were, however, finding it difficult to reach Dharampur as the area was cut off due to the flashflood.
Meanwhile, the meteorological department in Shimla has said that the area hit by the flashflood received more than 150 mm of rainfall in a span of a few hours.
