Crime Branch to produce Satyam before SDJM court today

Cuttack,August20:Controversial godman Sarathi's adopted son Satyam Raul to produce before the SDJM court today by the Crime Branch after his arrest.

The Crime Branch will produce him before  here today and request the court to grant remand for further investigation.

Earlier yesterday,Satyam arrested by the Odisha Crime Branch teams from a hotel in Borivali area at Mumbai with the help of Mumbai police.

According to a CB official, Satyam was arrested after tracking his mobile calls and verifying ATM card transaction records.Later, he was brought to the probe agency's headquarter in the city for interrogation as he is believed to have shifted valuables and gold from the ashram in Barimula area of Kendrapara district.

Meanwhile, the probing agency has identified three bank accounts of Satyam containing more than Rs 27 lakh, and land patches and buildings in the name of Satyam.

It is also expected that Satyam's interrogation would lead to more revelations about Sarathi's financial transactions as the 20-year-old was privy to most of the activities of Sarathi.

Sources added that apart from Baba's movable and immovable properties which would run into crores, the Satyam Charitable Trust, formed in the name of Baba's son, was also dealing with crores of rupees in the name of charity.

Besides, Sarathi Samitis, outfits floated by his followers in different districts, were also allegedly collecting lakhs of rupees every month in the name of Baba's ashram in Barimula area of the Kendrapara.

The investigating agency has so far frozen close to 22 accounts with a total deposit of Rs 2.5 crore belonging to the fake godman. With a plethora of information that the CB has in its possession, the agency is expected to seek remand of Satyam to elicit more details about his financial empire.
