Bhubaneswar,August20:Block grant school teachers today gheraoed the the MLA headquarters for the full grant of schools.
With the indefinite stir launched by the block grant teachers entering its eleventh day, protesting teachers gheraoed the MLA quaters. As many as 22, 000 teachers have been on strike affecting studies of as many as 5 lakh students in nearly 4,000 schools across the State.
According to sources, as many as 22,000 teachers, under the banner of Odisha Vidyalaya Sikshak Mahasangh (OBSM), Block Grant Teachers' Association and Gana Sikhyak Mahasangh who are demanding implementation of the State government's decision for full grant to the schools.
Yesterday the irate teachers also staged a protest in front of the State Assembly and had a face-off with the police.
"The protest will continue till the government doesn't give in to our demands and we will join the schools only after the implementation of the grant-in-aid rules of 1994", said Prakash Chandra Mohanty, convener of Odisha Vidyalaya Sikshak Mahasangh.
