Sura Baba case: CB started interrogation today

Cuttack,Sep5: After being granted by the Bhubaneswar Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court to take self-styled godman Surendra Mishra alias Sura Baba and his two sons for another three days remand yesterday, the State probe agency Crime Branch has started interrogating the trio today at his headquarters here.

According to sources, the probe agency is investigating the financial transaction of the godman.

Besides, a Crime Branch team is also visiting Mumbai to probe godman’s property and financial dealings there, the sources added.

On the other hand, investigations have revealed more information about the financial transactions of the arrested godman. Yesterday, Crime Branch sleuths traced around Rs 10 lakh in 7 bank accounts belonging to the godman. Moreover, Rs 4 lakh was seized from a safe in the Trahi Achyuta ashram.

Earlier on Thursaday, the investigation agency had traced Rs 2.40 crore cash deposit in the bank accounts of Mishra, his wife and two sons in State Bank of India, Achyuta Nagar branch. Besides, it also found bundles of notes of Rs 1,000 denomination from an office behind ‘Pothighara’ in the ashram.

The probe agency’s officials also seized gold ornaments along with a golden crown from the trust office of the Trachi Achyuta ashram.
