Police raid in Jharpada jail

Bhubaneswar,September 9: City police led by Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi raided Jharpada jail here today and seized a large quantity of illicit items including cigarettes and gutkas.

Bhoi told mediapersons that the raid was conducted at 4.30 am on the special jail.

Further, he stated an investigation will be done to find out how the contraband items were sneaked into the jail. Police will examine the CCTV footage and discuss with the jailor about the seizure.

This kind of raid on a jail in the twin cities is second in a week.

Notably, on September 3, the Commissionerate Police had raided the Choudwar jail in Cuttack district and seized huge narcotics and other incriminating articles.

A team led by Cuttack DCP Sanjiv Arora had also seized LED TVs and audio system from prisoners in the Choudwar jail.
