Bhubaneswar, September 10: The Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Award for 2015 was conferred on two eminent artists of Odisha on the concluding evening of the annual award festival at Rabindra Mandap here on Wednesday.
The awards were presented to Guru Giridhari Nayak and Shantanu Mohapatra for their achievements in the fields of Odissi dance and music respectively. The award carries a cash prize of Rs.50,000 each besides citations and a mementos.
The five-day festival was hosted by Srjan, the dance institution established by the legendary Odissi maestro Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra.
Guru Kelucharan was regarded as the king of the Odissi dance and to remember his contributions to Odissi dance in global level this festival is organised every year.
Meanwhile, the inaugural evening was attended by Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan, the concluding evening was graced by School and Mass Education Minister Debi Prasad Mishra, Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, Member, Board of Revenue Ashok Tripathy and Tourism Secretary LN Gupta.
