Mr.Yuri Afnaseiv caught while smoking at the Bhubaneswar airport

Bhubaneswar,September 12: UNDP Resident Representative and UN Resident Coordinator,Mr.Yuri Afnaseiv caught while smoking publically at the Biju Pattnaik International Airport on 11 September.   

The incident came forward through a representative of Naxatra News after he captured the sight in his camera.

Although Mr.Yuri Afnaseiv was found smoking amidst a strict security supervision when Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi was scheduled to depart to Delhi from Bhubaneswar,no security abandoned him for the matter.

However,smoking publically is banned and penalty is imposed on guilty. Mr.Afnaseiv who is the member of both UN and UNDP was caught smoking at terminal premises of the Biju Pattnaik International Airport.

Mr.Afnaseiv took his office as UNDP Resident Representative and UN Resident Coordinator in India on 31st July,2015.

Prior to his current position,Mr. Afanasiev served for 10 years as the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Croatia. Before that he served in Headquarters in New York as Senior Advisor at the Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS covering 24 countries in the region including Central Asia.

Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar Airport Authority has assured for a legal action soon.
