HRD Minister in city for 4th Bhubaneswar IIT convocation

Bhubaneswar, September 12: Human resource development minister Smriti Irani has arrived in city to attend the fourth convocation of IIT Bhubaneswar in its permanent campus at Argul today.

Senior IIT officials and BJP party leaders received Irani at the Biju Patnaik International Airport.

"IIT always lays emphasis on academic excellence and innovation, and students passing from this premier institute should focus on starting something new",addressing the gathering, Irani said.

This year, 215 students received degrees which include 109 B.Tech, 44 M.Tech, 12 PhD and 50 MSc, the director said.

Meanwhile, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar has become the first IIT to introduce Odishi in its curriculum for first year students, Rajakumar informed.
