India celebrates Engineers Day

Bhubaneswar, September 15: Among various marked days that we celebrate in our country today too is an important day in the history of India. The date of 15th September is remarked as the Engineers Day.

The Engineering Community across India celebrates Engineers Day on 15 September every year as a remarkable tribute to the greatest Indian Engineer Bharat Ratna Visvesvaraya. He is held in high regard as a pre-eminent engineer of India.

Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya,(popularly known as Sir MV) procured his civil engineering degree from the prestigious College of Engineering,Pune. He was the chief designer of the flood protection system for the city of Hyderabad, as well as the chief engineer responsible for the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagara dam in Mysore.
