Odisha Holds 7th Ranks In World Bank Business Hotspots List

Bhubaneswar;Sept 19: It is a fact now also accepted by the World Bank, which in a recently released rank, holds the state seventh in the list of investment-friendly destinations of the country.

Sources in the state government said that the Naveen Patnaik government has so far signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with 93 companies in various sectors with a committed investment of Rs 8 lakh crore, of which, around Rs 2 lakh crore has already been realised.

Sources claim that Odisha had emerged as one of the most investment-friendly destinations of the country because of the positive attitude of the state government towards industries. The state's Industrial Policy Resolution reflects this attitude envisaging a "Single Window" concept for faster and one-point clearance of projects.

"Our aim is to ensure that industrialists willing to invest face no problems," said industries minister, Debi Prasad Mishra.

The state capital boasts of one of the biggest IT Parks in the eastern region with IT majors like Infosys, Wipro, TCS and MindTree setting up shop.
