Naveen Patnaik Writes a Letter to PM on Polavaram issue

Bhubaneswar, septmber 22: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik has once again sought intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the controversial Polavaram project in Andhra Pradesh.

In a letter to Modi, the CM has urged him not to allow implementation of the project as issues related to the dam (technical and non-technical) are sub judice in Supreme Court. Naveen moved the Centre three days after Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu reportedly announced to complete the project by March, 2018.

"The chief minister also said the project will affect the livelihood of poor tribals in one of the most remote areas. A vast area of Malkangiri would be submerged if the project is implemented," said a source in the chief minister's office.
