IIM-Sambalpur classes kickstarts today with 49 students

Sambalpur, September 24: Classes of the first batch of the students for the Post Graduate Programme in Management of Indian Institute of Management, Sambalpur (IIM-S) takes off from today with a strength of 49 students, 40 boys and 9 girls.

Meanwhile the classes are being held in its temporary campus at the Silicon Institute of Technology.

The State's Technical Education minister Sanjay Das Burma yestersay inaugurated IIM-S after which the orientation classes of the students began here.

A number of five faculty members have been given permanent appointment so far now.

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Sambalpur in Odisha is one of the six new IIMs sanctioned by the Centre in 2014.

All other new IIMs includingVisakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Bodh Gaya (Bihar), Sirmaur (Himachal Pradesh), Nagpur (Maharashtra), and Amritsar (Punjab) have already started their classes.
