Odisha Vidyalaya Sikshak Mahasangh calls off the ongoing strike

Bhubaneswar, September 24: After the state governmemt agreed for the fulfillment of the demands, the ongoing strike of the Odisha Vidyalaya Sikshak Mahasangh today here has been called off.

"The State government has promised to fulfil our demands. The government will issue a notification regarding the fulfillment of demands this evening," informed Prakash Chandra Mohanty, convener of the teachers' association after attending the high-level meeting under the chairmanship of the Finance Minister Pradip Amat at the State Secretariat.

"The schools would be opened from today and normal classes would be resumed",he added.

As many as 40,000 teachers of 4,000 schools turned out to street demanding regularization of their service and implementation of grant-in-aid system since August 10.

However, the Block Grant Teachers' and Employees' Association has continued the demonstration.

The block grant teachers is also scheduled to take out a 'padyatra' on September 28 in Hinjili of Ganjam district to press for fulfillment of their demands.
