Death Toll Rises To 717 & Injured 805 In Worst Hajj Disaster In 25 Years

Middle East:Sept 24; The death toll rises to 717 including 1 Indian; at least 21 Indians among 805 injured on Thursday in a stampede outside the Muslim holy city of Mecca, Saudi authorities said, the worst disaster to strike the annual haj pilgrimage in 25 years.

The stamped happened in Mecca's neighborhood of Mina, which traditionally provides temporary accommodation for hundreds of thousands of pilgrims. The ritual of the 'Stoning of the Devil' is performed in a valley surrounding the neighborhood on the night before last day of the Hajj.
