New Delhi:Sept 26;  Number of Indians who died in the Haj tragedy on Saturday rose to 18, ministry of external affairs said.

"18 Indian Hajjis are now confirmed dead," the Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Vikas Swarup said on Friday.

Of the 18 Indian victims, nine were from Gujarat, three from Tamil Nadu and one each from Telangana and Kerala. Four others are yet to be identified.

At least 13 Indians were also among the over 800 people injured in the tragedy.

Meanwhile, 19 pilgrims from Kerala were reported missing. Neither the state government nor the Haj committee has any information about them. Sources, however, said it is too early to conclude if they were injured or killed. Several pilgrims from Gujarat were also untraceable since the stampede in Mina.
