Bar Council of Odisha, SAT Bar Association withdraw strike after meeting with CM

Bhubaneswar,septmber 29: Bar Council of Odisha and the SAT Bar Association on Monday decided to attend the courts from Tuesday after a delegation met  with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The lawyers across the State boycotted the courts on Monday protesting the State Government's"arbitrary" decision to abolish the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT).

"We submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister. He assured us to look into our demands. We have urged him to take a positive decision within 15 days by recalling the September 9 Cabinet decision," said Bar Council Chairman Manas Mohapatra. However, he said the lawyers would work by wearing black badges as a mark of protest till any further decision was taken in this regard. Before meeting the Chief Minister the lawyers met Law Minister Arun Sahoo and apprised him about their grievances.
