Rasulgarh Flyover Opens Partially

New Delhi, October 1: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Thursday opened the Rasulgarh flyover along NH-5 for vehicular movement only from Bhubaneswar towards Cuttack.

The much-awaited flyover would be fully operational by Dussehera, NHAI officials said.

On May 22 this year, the Commissionerate Police had closed Rasulgarh Square for vehicles going towards Cuttack. The restriction was imposed to expedite construction of Rasulgarh flyover.

As per the restriction, all vehicles going from Bhubaneswar towards Cuttack took diversion from Rasulgarh towards Mancheswar Industrial Estate. From Mancheswar, the vehicles moved towards Palasuni Canal Road via Mahindra show room and State Bank Chhak. However, there was no restriction for vehicles coming to Bhubaneswar from Cuttack.

With the partial opening of the flyover, commuters will have a sigh of relief as the restriction used to create traffic jam at Rasulgarh Square, especially during evening.

The flyover will also facilitate smooth movement of large number of vehicles from Bhubaneswar towards Cuttack during the upcoming T20 match between India and South Africa at Barabati stadium.:
