Bhubaneswar, October 1: Odisha government is to implement the National Food Security Act across 14 districts of the state in its first phase from tomorrow.
CM Naveen Pattnaik yesterday conducted a review meeting for the implementation of the act.
Around 1.29 crore eligible benefeciaries will be distrubuted the NFSA card from tomorrow.
Notably, after a long period of 11 years the NFSA cards are about to be distributed.
Meanwhile, the allocations will be made available from November.
The National Food Security Act is an Act of the Parliament of India which aims to provide subsidised food grains India's population. On September 12, 2013 the act was signed into law while it was retroactive to July 5, 2013. The Act converts into legal entitlements for existing food security programmes of the Government of India. It includes the Mid-day Meal Scheme, Integrated Child Development Services scheme and the Public Distribution System.
