Bhanjanagar SDMO arrested by vigilance for taking bribe

Berhampur,November 4: The State Vigilance teams on Tuesday arrested Bhanjanagar Sub-divisional Medical Officer Bijay Panda for taking bribe from a patient.

The arrested doctor is undergoing treatment at the MKCG hospital in Berhampur as he suffered a heart attack after being caught by the Vigilance.

The accused had demanded Rs 5,000 from Shashi Naik, the patient and a resident of Dhaumundia village, to conduct an operation.

On the basis of a complaint filed by the family members of the patient, waiting sleuths rounded up the doctor while taking a bribe of Rs 3,000 from Naik's wife.
