Police bust chain snacthing gang in Odisha

Berhampur,November 4: With the arrest of five persons, police today claimed to have busted a gang involved in at least 14 chain-snatching cases in this south Odisha city.

Apart from snatched gold ornaments, a pistol, a knife and two motor-cycles which had been looted by the gang from different places in the city were also recovered, said SP (Berhampur), Sarthak Sarangi.

The gold ornaments included 14 chains, two rings, a necklace, bracelet. Some melted gold was also recovered from the accused, police said.

The weight of the seized gold ornaments was around 375 grams, they said adding the accused persons had snatched these ornaments from various places in the town during the last five months
