SC grants bail to Preeti Bhatia over Chit-fund scam

New Delhi,November 4: The Supreme Court on today granted bail to Mumbai-based model and TV serial producer Preeti Bhatia for her alleged complicity in Artha Tatwa chit fund scam.
Previously, who has been in Jharpara jail in Bhubaneswar since October 2014.

In May this year, Bhatia had deposited a bond worth Rs 1,17, 83, 000 crore at the court of special CJM (CBI) in Bhubaneswar as per the directive of the apex court.

Bhatia had filed an appeal before the SC challenging the order of Odisha High Court which, on March 16, had turned down her bail petition.

The CBI, which is investigating the chit fund scam in the State, in its charge sheet mentioned that around Rs 1,17,83, 000 was diverted to Preetiís account from Artha Tatwa Group.
