Bars in Bhubaneswar raided, notices served for violations

Bhubaneswar,November 5: Four joint teams of the Commissionerate Police and Excise department late on Wednesday evening conducted surprise raids on four bars in Bhubaneswar.

Raids were operated on bars running in Hotel Dipali, Hotel Greenfield, Asoka Bar and Rain the Bar, police sources said.

Violation of license conditions were detected in Hotel Deepali, Hotel Greenfield and Rain the Bar and show cause notices have been served, the sources said.

According to reports of bars in Bhubaneswar engaging young women/girls for dancing to entertain customers, police which was so far indifferent about the violations swung into action on Wednesday.

As per the regulation laid down under Section 25 of Odisha, Bihar Excise Act, 1915, girls/women cannot be engaged in a bar.
