20% paddy collection from Central zone in Kharif season, says Sanjay Dasburma

Bhubaneswar,November 7: The Food and Civil Supplies minister Sanjay Dasburma today has decided to collect about 20% paddy of the total State procurement target from the Central revenue division after attending the collector's meeting.

"We aim to procure 19.96% paddy from Central revenue zone of the total procurement target this kharif marketing season (KMS)," he said.

The minster also informed paddy procurement automation system (P-PAS) has been replicated in 38 Blocks of the zone.

In June, after successful operation of the system during 2014-15 KMS, the State government had decided to it in 160 high procuring blocks during 2015-16 KMS.

Officials said, the automation system has brought in transparency, efficiency, accuracy and economy in the process of paddy procurement in the State. It has also ensured timely payment to farmers and has streamlined fund flow information across all banks.
