Ajinkya Rahane replaces Suresh Raina in Grade A of BCCI's 2015-16 contracts

New Delhi,November 10:Ajinkya Rahane has been replaced the Uttar Pradesh batsman Suresh Raina in Grade A for the 2015-16 season in the BCCI's list of contracted players. 

Only Test captain MS Dhoni, limited-overs skipper Virat Kohli and ace spinner R Ashwin were retained in Group A from the last season, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar also dropping to Grade B as the board decided to include only four players in the Rs 1 crore top grade.

Among the 26 players awarded the contracts, Ravindra Jadeja also dropped a grade from B to C while Harbhajan Singh made a return among the contracted players in Group C. Among the new entrants was medium pacer S Aravind.

Those who got ejected from the list were Pankaj Singh, Vinay Kumar, Parvez Rasool, Manoj Tiwary, Robin Uthappa, Sanju Samson and Kuldeep Yadav.


The board also introduced graded contracts for women cricketers, divided into two grades of Rs. 15 lakh and Rs. 10 lakh.

Grade A (INR One Crore): MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, R Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane.

Grade B (INR 50 lakhs): Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Rohit Sharma, Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, Mohammad Shami.

Grade C (INR 25 lakhs): Amit Mishra, Axar Patel, Stuart Binny, Wriddhiman Saha, Mohit Sharma, Varun Aaron, Karn Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Dhawal Kulkarni, Harbhajan Singh, S Arvind.

Senior Women (2015-16 Grade A (INR 15 lakhs): Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami, 
Harmanpreet Kaur, MD Thirushkamini.

Grade B (INR 10 lakhs): Smriti Mandana, Rajeswari Gayakwad, Poonam Yadav, Ekta Bist, Veda Krishnamurthy, Niranjana Nagarajan, Poonam Raut.
