Congress skip ‘Mandei’ fest

Nabarangpur,November 15: Congress has decided to skip the cultural tribal festival 'Mandei', extravaganza in the wake of farmers' death.

"When farmers of the State are committing suicide due to crop failure and debt burden, how the administration is preparing to celebrate a festival? it is shame, ask  the district Congress committee president Narayan Patra.

The party has questioned justification of ‘Mandei’ celebration while the farmers’ future is in limbo. The grand-old party has also decided to oppose the district administration if it observes the carnival, Patra said, adding a memorandum will be submitted to the Collector in this regard.

The event, which has brought high-level recognition to undivided Koraput district, showcases the culture of different parts of the State.
