Three villagers killed in Odisha during combing operation

Kalahandi,November 16: At least three villagers, including a Ward Member, were killed and two minors were injured when security forces engaged in combing operation at Nisamguda in Karlapat forest in Kalahandi district allegedly opened fire at them suspecting them as Maoists on Sunday evening. 

The deceased were identified as Ward Member Jayasankar Nayak, Jay Majhi and Sukru Majhi.

The two injured minors were admitted at the Kalahandi District Headquarters Hospital at Bhawnipatna. 

The deceased persons and the injured were the residents of Panchkola village. 

According to reports, District Voluntary Force (DDF) and Special Operation Group (SOG) personnel, while on a joint combing operation inside the Karlapat forest, noticed the movement of some people. Suspecting them as Maoists, they opened fire at them resulting in the death of three persons on the spot while the two others identified as minors sustained bullet injuries.
