Another farmer ends life in Odisha

Bhubaneswar,November 16: One more case of alleged farmer suicide was added to the never-ending list as yet another distressed farmer died today who had committed suicide yesterday by consuming poison due to crop loss and loan burden.

Unnable to cope up with the stress, the peasant from Pujipadar village under Narla block in Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district took to the extreme step and attempted suicide yesterday.

The farmer identified as Somnath Majhi was admitted to Narla community health centre (CHC) and was undergoing treatment in a critical condition.

According to reports, Somnath was under severe stress due to bad crops owing to deficient rainfall. Realising that he won't be able to repay the outstandings, he consumed pesticide late yesterday night.
