IISER: Central team to arrive Berhampur to finalize locations

Bhubaneswar,November 17: A Central team of the Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD) today will arrive Ganjam to inspect the suitability of locations, which the Odisha government had chosen for the proposed Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER).

According to reports, the Odisha government had identified 200 acre of land in Palur Hills and 80 acre of land in Lauding as probable sites for establishment of the IISER campus.

"We have identified 200 acre of land in Palur Hills and 80 acre of land in Lauding for permanent campus and three more sites for its temporary campus," said Technical Education Minister Sanjay Dasburma.

The team is scheduled to visit three other locations, which the State government had identified for setting up temporary campus of the institute.

The team would be accompanied by State government officials such as Employment & Technical Education & Training (E&TE&T) secretary, IIT-Bhubaneswar director and director of IISER-Bhopal.

Meanwhile, Binod Kumar Singh, IISER-Bhopal director, who has arrived in Bhubaneswar along with other team members to select the locations.
