Another farmer ends life due to debt burden

Angul,November 18: There was no let-up in farmer suicides in the state with one fresh case reported from Rantalei village here on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Ranjan Sahoo.

Sources said, Sahoo took the extreme step by hanging self as he faced heavy crop loss due to scanty rain and was under severe stress due to loan burdens.

Rita Sahoo, wife of the deceased farmer said, "My husband was in severe mental stress due to loan burden and heavy crop loss."

"We have borrowed Rs 2 lakh from local money lenders, Rs 60,000 from Bank of India for cultivation," Rita said.
