Malayala Manorama bagged the award for its project SAVE (Serve as a Volunteer for Energy) which was aimed at reducing power consumption in Kerala through students' activities.
The project was organised as a joint venture of Manorama and Kerala Power Department, the daily said.
'This is a very good example of a successful marriage between a newspaper and activism: a call to action engages young readers more than just news as they really want to make a difference,' the jury for the award said about the SAVE project.
The award, which carries a cash prize of 1,000 Euros and a trophy, will be presented during the 8th World Young Reader Conference which will take place in Prague between September 27 and 30. PTI |
