Odisha Govt Announces 'Ekamra Kshetra Yojana' for Lingaraj Temple

Bhubaneswar: The State government on Thursday announced a package for Lingaraj Temple periphery development in the temple city of Bhubaneswar.

A package in the name of 'Ekamra Kshetra Yojana' was announced today which will be launched on a 66-acre land. Nine projects are part of the move.

The state government has also decided to compensate the street vendors, who are being evicted from the ambit of Lingaraj Temple.

As per the statement from CMO, a compensation money of Rs 30,000 will be given as cash assistance to the street vendors while they will be rehabilitated at vending zones.

Traders with permanent shops will get Rs 10,000 per month for 12 months and rehabilitated at the new market complexes in the area.

In the State Secretariat, a meeting led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik decided to formulate a new Act for Lingaraj Temple in the manner of Shree Jagannath Temple Act.
